1-30 point Foster Carer Retention Review
Retention is as important as Recruitment when you lose an Experienced Carer you lose more than a number.
In this detailed review I hope to set out a number of areas that all Fostering Providers should consider reviewing to ensure Foster Carers feel they do not need to leave for avoidable reasons.
It starts from the very first contact and the expectations that are passed to the Potential Foster Carer before they are even approved.

Foster Carer Retention Review
This review can never predict the complete range of Retention issues that individuals will cite as reasons why they left your service.
It does however allow a thought process to start to reduce the number leaving, and that means your recruitment efforts have a chance to grow the number not just replace losses.
Point 01/30 — Retention Starts Before Approval - The recruitment promise becomes the retention benchmark
Point 02/30 — Foster Carer Retention Is Sufficiency - Recruitment tells you what came in. Foster Carer Retention helps tell you what you still have.
Point 03/30 — Foster Carer Headcount Is Not Capability - Even if we know how many households we have gained and lost, we still do not necessarily know what happened to our ability to meet children's needs.
